FTSE4Good is managed by FTSE Russell of the London Stock Exchange Group and is designed to identify companies that demonstrate strong ESG practices against globally recognized standards. The index, which was created in 2001, has included Amcor every year since 2006.
“Our continued presence in this and other sustainability related indices demonstrates Amcor’s long and unwavering commitment to more sustainable operations and more sustainable packaging,” said Amcor’s Vice President, Sustainability, David Clark.
Mr. Clark added that while much of Amcor’s packaging is already technically recyclable or reusable, the company’s ambitions and achievements continue to grow.
“We are increasing our collaboration with major global brands, retailers and non-governmental organisations, and we are energised by the potential to further benefit the environment and distinguish Amcor,” said Mr. Clark.
A spokesperson from FTSE Russell confirmed that Amcor has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and “satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series”.
The FTSE4Good Index helps investors assess the sustainability performance of publicly traded companies. In addition to the FTSE index, Amcor responds to the CDP Climate Disclosure platform, and has been listed on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for Australia and Asia Pacific, the MSCI Global Sustainability Index and the Ethibel Excellence Investment Register. Amcor is also considered a “leading company” by the Australian Council of Superannuation Investors.
Amcor shares its ESG performance in an annual Sustainability Report, which is based on the widely used Global Reporting Initiative framework and published on Amcor’s website each October.
