This year’s HealthPack nurse and technician panel yielded valuable insights on how package formats and cost-out redesigns translate to usability in the clinician setting. Are device manufacturers and packaging suppliers aligned with the needs of clinicians?

healthpack 2019

The nurse and technician panel is one of the most anticipated sessions at HealthPack every year and was the capstone of the day one agenda at this year’s event. Four technicians took to the stage and shared their experience as they opened packaged devices live. The panelists’ varied clinical experiences and physical build brought out unique perspectives on each of the packages. No two technicians employed the same technique to unpackage a device. However, it was clear that all of them had high regard for patient safety as they inspected the packaging before and after releasing the devices and ensuring sterile presentation.

Here are my key take-aways from the nurse and technician panel at this year’s HealthPack.
