Amcor recently teamed up with Nestlé to produce and distribute 18,000 food packages in Portugal.

Amcor partners with Nestlé to support Food Bank

For the first time, Nestlé brought together eight of their main suppliers across the supply chain - Amcor, Cersul, Germen, Graphics Leader, Prolacto, RAR, Saica Pack and Transportes João Amaral - to produce and donate more than 15 tonnes of CERELAC® (nutritious baby food) and NESTUM® (cereal). In total 18,000 food packages will be distributed by the Food Bank.

Amcor Flexibles Cumbria (UK) and Porto (Portugal) both donated packaging material.

"We are delighted to contribute through CERELAC® and NESTUM® two iconic brands in Portugal to the needs of the Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger, bringing together some of our key local business partners throughout our value chain. I would like to thank you all for your enthusiasm in embracing this initiative and your immediate availability. At a time when the role of Food Banks is fundamental to ensuring support for families in need, this is a way for us to show society the solidarity of several business partners who daily carry out their activities, creating value for society in Portugal."

Paolo Fagnoni, CEO of Nestlé Portugal

"The mobilization of society as a whole at this difficult time is of added importance and contributes to social cohesion. The initiative promoted by Nestlé involving so many regular partners is very relevant for its size and as an example for establishing partnerships in the fight against hunger. It will enable many nfamilies who have been left without resources or support to be guaranteed the food they need. The gratitude we express is on behalf of these families who will be able to face the coming times with indispensable support."

Isabel Jonet, President of the Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger

*“We applaud the healthcare community and everyone contributing to protect lives during the pandemic. As a global packaging company, we are proud to partner with Nestle and support local communities in Portugal and around the world.” *
