This award recognizes the replacement of glass jars with Amcor HeatFlex pouches, which helped Unilever to reduce their structural material usage by 70%. The lighter packaging results in reduction of transportation costs and carbon footprint, as one truckload of unfilled pouches equals 25 truckloads of empty glass jars.

"This award is very important for Amcor. Caring for the environment is one of our core values and minimum resource utilisation is a prime focus area in our many years of retort experience. I would like to thank our sales team and our co-workers at Amcor Flexibles Schüpbach who all contributed to this major success," says Roy van den Oudenhoven, Commerical Director at Amcor Flexibles Schüpbach, Switzerland.

Amcor HeatFlex solutions can be used for a wide range of applications, like sauces, soups, ready meals and other cooked food and pet food. Along with potential structural material savings, it offers significant benefits to both retailers and consumers. Enhanced presentation of nutrition information, freshness and quality of ingredients can be achieved by the increased print surface of the pouch. Consumers can microwave the sauces directly in the pouch withoutcompromising on shelf life properties of the product. Retailers benefit from on-shelf differentation and easy handling during the shelf-stocking process.

Amcor Flexibles is proud of the DuPont Award for sustainable achievements. We acknowledge sustainability as both our challenge and our responsibility and are pleased that our innovative packaging solutions help our customers around the globe to introduce more sustainable packaging into the market.
