European pet owners would be ready to pay more for more sustainable packaging

In 2019-202, Amcor has conducted research with more than 4,000 consumers across five European countries to discover their views on sustainability.
Through a combination of in-person interviews and online surveys in the UK, France, Italy, Germany, and Sweden, the Amcor Market Insights team found that consumers are more aware than ever of the environmental impact of their choices, and they expect to be empowered to make buying decisions that reflect their values.
As part of this research, we took a focused deep dive into pet owners’ views on sustainability claims on packaging and how this impacts their purchasing choices in the pet care category.
Pet owners are in line with consumers generally. They are prepared to pay more for a more sustainable choice, but they find sustainability information on pet care products to be confusing. This gives brands a huge opportunity to enlighten consumers, help them making conscious choices through clear sustainability claims.
This report highlights key findings about the preferences of pet parents. It offers brands valuable insights about how a changing marketplace is impacting buying behavior.
