For centuries, people have produced and consumed cheese in a variety of forms. Currently there are over 1,400 varieties of cheese across the globe, and France alone produces more than 400 cheese varieties.
What were once regional specialties are now known and shared around the world. But still today local tastes show a preference for the home grown variety.
