Many consumers across Europe say they would even pay a premium for paper packaging. Insights such as these, combined with decades of paper packaging experience have led to the development of AmFiber™ Performance Paper - a new high barrier, recyclable paper-based packaging solution. As part of Amcor’s recently announced AmFiber™ global platform for paper packaging, AmFiber™ Performance Paper will bring paper-based packaging to a wide range of products, starting with candy and rapidly expanding to other applications such as coffee, spices, dried soups, culinary and more.
AmFiber™ Performance Paper is a recyclable paper-based solution with a high oxygen and moisture barrier that provides comparable product protection to metalized OPP (plastic) packaging. With more than 80% paper fiber content and PVDC-free, this latest material innovation is recyclable across most European countries.
This means brands can now utilize more sustainable, paper-based packaging that maintains the required barrier properties, ensuring product freshness and allowing our customers to make a seamless switch in their operations. Machine tests of AmFiber™ Performance Paper have shown that the material runs easily on producers’ existing lines and avoids common challenges with paper such as tearing and slowing down the line speed.
By ensuring consistently high product quality this innovation helps brands cater to the demands of the modern consumer. This latest launch complements Amcor’s existing recyclable portfolio for snacks and candy products, which includes recyclable PP-based, PE-based, bio-based and now paper-based packaging options.
